The Making of Ze Disco Party®
The idea of Ze Disco Party evolved so many times in order to become what it did. The initial thought was to build a box room that would have 70’s decore and styled poster with a DJ boothe and dancer.
As ideas began to evolve, the contruction of the box did as well. I explored building the room with pvc pipe, metal frames, a canvas pop-up tent, a storage mobile pod, a stoage unit garage, and eventually settled on building the box framing with wood. The walls were tricky to figure out, but once discovering styrofoam walls it became clear that was the direction I needed to take.
The walls are 4x8x and we needed only 8 of them because I did not need a floor and needed an exposed wall where viewers could see me.

The walls were tiled with a chipboard that was covered with mylar film. All together there were 256 tiles that needed to be made. Orginally planned to place real mirrored tiles up, but like many of the orginal thoughts, prices were way out of my budget. Mylar was the best choice.
Once the tiles were attached to the walls, we attached the walls to the frame with zip ties and heavy duty double sided tape. Then came all the decorations after that was finished. Such as the glitter streamers and discoball. The last idea came to me two days before I had to perform. I one wall on the outside of the box that was exposed and had no decorations on it. This became the Ze Disco Party wall you can see in pictures below. The squares were cut with a Cri-Cut cutting machine and were pinned to the wall loosely with T-pins.
